Why did you select Avalara and which solutions do you use?
We selected a Valera probably about 15 years ago. They were, we use something called Next for Windows, and they were at the user group that we went to. So we met them and sounded like a great solution to, you know, we were back. Then we were probably only collecting in about ten States. So once we got onto a Valera, the business had started to pick up, we were picking up, you know, other places and opening up other Ranches. So, we were all getting a little busy, so we thought, okay, that'll help out on top of then. Once we figured out, once we incorporated, a Valera, that we could actually take the billing and let anybody down, and once that opened that door, it really, really helped out a lot. Because prior to Valera, we only had the billers at each location and we had a zillion tax codes, and he had to remember them all, and you had to, you know, know all them. You had to Practically be a CPA to do any kind of billing for us just to you know with just a deal with the sales tax portion. But once we picked up a Valera that opened up that door. It's so then we had our parts people billing, we had our service people billing and from then it just it exploded. So now and thankfully I'm glad that we did what we did back then. So that way now that things are super, super busy, we are We are able to continue on with, you know, having all everybody bill and it's not on one single person, but we just recently went to a new Erp system and from the implementation, from before we already knew some of the I don't want to say hiccups. But you know, when you're, when you're implementing into your system, there are some hiccups along the way and then you have to kind of learn what works for your company, versus not, you know, We went through those little hardships, but once we got through that on this time around we didn't have any so that may think very very nice and they originally the Erp system that we chose to go with. They were partnered with vertex and I was like because I was the assistant project manager on our side and I was like, we are absolutely not changing. I was like we are already changing. Changing all these things and we are not that is one thing. I'm not changing. So I had to actually when I talk to the project manager on the emphasis side, he was like, I'm sorry. This is what we offer. This is all we have we don't have a connector with that Valera and I was like, that's okay. I was like because I can get in touch with somebody over there. I was like, we absolutely cannot change and he still kind of put me on the back burner and I had to go actually to our CFO and then onto our owner and explain that Changing is it would be terrible. First off, we are already changing everything and then you're going to change this to on top of the, you know, they, you know, vertex wanted us to unregister from the SST States because they don't offer that and I was like, we can't do that. I was like we have been an SST volunteer for. You know, since I started the program I was like on top of a Valera has all of our history so and now you know all the states went prepays now. So And you have to go off the history. So it's like it did not make any sense at all. On top of the penalties, we would probably get from the states that we had to unregister. And I mean to me that opens up a red flag to get audited. So, you know, nobody wants an audit, but I have gone through two audits, while we were with a Valera, they were seamless, any auditor that came in. Isomer facto one in Washington. He didn't even come. He, he and I did like a couple teams calls. He knew exactly. Eat what to ask for. That came out of apple, are the reports. I got him exactly what he needed. He assessed the situation. I we had to pay a couple hundred bucks and that was it and I would and he and he would say, I mean I was completely like I said is that it? Because we had gotten audited by Illinois's previous two going to I will era and we had to dig in boxes. It was a task that took weeks because we had all these invoices that were In storage and they were in boxes, so we all had to go digging for, you know, all these invoices, it was horrible. So that was another thing to that made things. Good with a Valera, the Auditors accepted the reports that they actually, they asked us for them. I got what they needed and it literally that audit took a week, maybe so that made it nice to not happen with another state to where the, again, the audit didn't. I mean, they asked for reports, I sent them and that was it. They came back. Back and that one was we didn't even know anything. So it actually worked out to our benefit there too. So yeah, I would definitely, definitely not tradable era.
